Building Super Recovers Package Stolen by a Thief
The 40-year-old male superintendent of the residential building at 205 W. 88th St. at Amsterdam Ave. said that at 7:55 a.m. on Monday, April 15, several packages were left in front of the building. He then saw an unknown man walk up to the packages and take them without permission or authority. The super approached the suspect to stop him, when the suspect punched the super in his face, causing minor lacerations over his left eye. The super had managed to retrieve one of the three packages stolen before the suspect fled eastbound on W. 88th St. The value of the contents of the stolen packages was unknown.
Woman’s Ex-Boyfriend Arrested When Argument Turns Violent
A 30-year-old woman told police that at 9:31 a.m. on Saturday, April 20, she had an argument with her 33-year-old ex-boyfriend inside her residence at the Douglass Houses at 875 Columbus Ave. at W. 104th St. He took her cell phone and baby diapers and also grabbed her arms, causing minor bruising. The victim’s iPhone was recovered, and the ex, Maurice Walker, was arrested on Tuesday, April 23, and charged with robbery.
Gang of Youths Steal Teenager’s iPhone
According to police, at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, April 9, a 16-year-old male youth was walking to a store with his friend when a group of unknown men approached them at Amsterdam Ave. and W. 109th St. and punched and kicked them while also brandishing multiple guns and knives. The gang took the 16-year-old’s phone and fled in an unknown direction. The stolen phone was an iPhone 13 valued at $999. The victim refused medical attention at the scene.
Senior Does Teen a Good Turn; It Turns out Badly
A 70-year-old woman reported that at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, April 9, she let a 14-year-old girl into her residential building at 16 W. 107th St. near Manhattan Ave. because she recognized the teen. The senior then asked the teen to leave, inciting the teen to hit the senior in the face with a closed fist, causing swelling to the victim’s upper lip. The victim refused medical attention at the scene, and the suspect was arrested on Wednesday, April 24, and charged with assault.
Police Arrest Man in Broadway Road Rage Incident
An 18-year-old man stated that at 6:10 p.m. on Thursday, April 18, he got involved in a motor vehicle accident at Broadway and W. 98th St. The other driver–a 58-year-old man–got out of his car, grabbed the 18-year-old’s phone and struck the young man on his lower lip, causing substantial pain and minor lacerations. The victim refused medical attention on the scene, and Rami Avital was arrested and charged with assault.
