    Man Assaults Drunk Who Bumped into Him

    A 49-year-old man told police that at 11:30 p.m. on Thursday, August 17, he was walking on the southwest corner of Amsterdam Ave. and West 82nd St. when he accidentally bumped into another pedestrian. The pedestrian asked, “Why did you bump me?” and then struck him in the head with a glass bottle, causing several lacerations and swelling. Apparently, the victim was highly intoxicated and unable to give police a description of his assailant.

    Young Man Strikes Senior outside Citarella Store

    A 70-year-old man reported that at 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday, August 16, he exchanged words with a 25-year-old man in front of the Citarella store at 2135 Broadway at West 75th St. as he was opening the door. The young man then struck the senior in the jaw with a closed fist, causing minor swelling and pain. The victim refused medical attention at the scene, and the police report had no further information on the whereabouts of the suspect.

    Elderly Woman’s Wallet Stolen from her Purse

    According to police, a 92-year-old woman was checking out inside the Fairway Market at 2131 Broadway between West 74th St. and West 75th St. when she discovered that her wallet had been stolen from her purse. She had last seen her wallet right before going into the store and had no idea who had taken it. The items stolen included a brown leather wallet, credit and debit cards, a New York State driver’s license and a MetroCard, representing a total value of $55.

    Cell Phone Seller Mugs Buyer on Street Corner

    Police reported that at 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, August 22, a 36-year-old man met up with another man on the northeast corner of Amsterdam Ave. and West 63rd St. to purchase a cell phone as agreed upon in the Facebook Marketplace. Without handing over the phone, the seller instead grabbed $500 cash from the purchaser’s hand and, when the latter tried to get his money back, punched him on the left cheek, causing pain and discomfort. The victim refused medical attention at the scene, and the robber was last seen fleeing on foot.

    Man Breaks into Cookie Shop, Takes Nothing

    A 26-year-old female employee of the Chip City store at 370 Columbus Ave. near West 78th St. reported that at 12:35 a.m. on Monday, August 21, a man broke the lock box outside the store and removed a key to gain entry to the establishment. The employee said that the intruder did not take anything from inside the store, but the damage to the lock box was valued at $150.
