    Senior Assaulted in ATM Dispute

    A 72-year-old man told police that at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, September 26, he got into a verbal dispute with a 32-year-old male stranger concerning the use of the ATM area inside the Citibank branch at 2350 Broadway at West 86th St. As the argument grew more heated, the young man struck the senior in the face and fled on foot. The senior sustained a minor injury but refused treatment at the scene and proved uncooperative at the 20th Precinct station house.

    11-Year-Old Mugged on West 72nd St.

    An 11-year-old boy reported that at 4:40 p.m. on Sunday, October 1, he was walking eastbound with a friend on the north side of West 72nd St. when two male youths aged 16 approached from behind in front of 121 West 77th St. near Columbus Ave. and demanded that he hand over the money in his hand. The boy refused, and one of the muggers grabbed his wrist while the other snatched the money from him. Both suspects then fled westbound toward Amsterdam Ave. Fortunately, no injuries were incurred or weapons used, and a search of the neighborhood proved fruitless. The amount stolen came to $12.

    Woman’s Car Vandalized

    A 65-year-old woman reported that at 6 p.m. on Sunday, October 1, she parked her 2021 Kia Sportage SUV on Riverside Dr. When she returned the following morning at 8 a.m. she noticed that her rear passenger window had been shattered and the car’s steering column and ignition had been damaged by unknown individuals. The steering column was valued at $2,000, the broken window at $500 and the ignition at $2,000, representing damages totaling $4,500.

    Burglar Loots Property in Church

    According to police, at 11:09 a.m. on Wednesday, October 4, an unknown man entered a church on West 75th St. while it was open to the public and stole various items of property including a purse, sunglasses, prescription eyeglasses, Google ear buds, a cosmetic bag containing medication, paper receipts and bills, a wallet, a driver’s license, various ID, debit and gift cards, plus $40 in cash, making a total haul of $612.

    Senior Victimized in DEA Scam

    A 70-year-old woman told police that at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, October 4, she was inside her home on West 66th St. when she was contacted by an unknown man reporting that her Amazon account was being hacked. He further stated that he worked for the Drug Enforcement Administration and needed $54,500 to remedy the situation. At 3 p.m. the woman met with the man, who was around 30 years of age, at the Starbucks at 175 West 57th St. at Seventh Ave. and gave him the money in a black canvas bag. Only later did she discover that she had been scammed.
