Man Stabbed inside Épicerie Boulud
A 23-year-old man reported that at 7:44 p.m. on Sunday, October 15, a 31-year-old man walked into the Épicerie Boulud at 1900 Broadway near West 64th St. and started arguing with him regarding the older man’s ex-girlfriend. The older man then pulled out a pocket knife and stabbed the younger man, causing a serious physical injury to the latter’s left lower abdominal and a scratch to his left lower arm. The suspect then fled the scene, heading northbound on Broadway, while the victim was transported to Mount Sinai Morningside for treatment. Police searched the neighborhood but couldn’t find the suspect.
Security Guard Thwarts Mugger
A 40-year-old woman reported that at 6:15 a.m. on Thursday, October 12, a 27-year-old man followed her out of the subway station at Central Park West and West 70th St. When she turned onto West 68th St. the suspect began running after her yelling, “Give me your wallet!” He caught up and struggled with her, trying to pull her purse from her body. Fortunately, a nearby security guard stopped the suspect and recovered a knife from him. The victim was uninjured, and no property had been stolen. Police soon apprehended the suspect, whose name was not revealed, and charged him with robbery.
Credit and Debit Cards Taken from Woman’s Backpack
A 67-year-old woman living on Amsterdam Ave. told police that at 5 p.m. on Saturday, October 7, she went out wearing a backpack while she walked her dog. When she returned home an hour later she discovered that her backpack was open and items of property were missing from inside. The stolen items included her green card, Medicare and Medicaid cards, a food card and credit and debit cards. She canceled the credit and debit cards, and no unauthorized charges had turned up at the time of the police report.
Delivery Man’s SUV Stolen and Recovered
A 32-year-old man stated that at 4:10 p.m. on Friday, October 13, he was making a delivery at 45 West 67th St. near Columbus Ave. with his beige 2011 Toyota RAV4 when a 30-year-old male carjacker got into the SUV, which had the keys in the ignition, and drove off in reverse, heading eastbound on West 67th St. The deliveryman was able to catch up with the vehicle and pulled out the suspect, who then fled on foot toward Central Park West. TheRAV4 stolen and recovered was valued at $7,000.
Business on West 72nd St. Burglarized
A 29-year-old female employee of a business on West 72nd St. alleged that at 9:30 p.m. on Friday, October 13, an unidentified individual used a small rock to shatter the front door of the establishment and gain entry. Inside, the suspect stole a cash register, removing $1,000 in cash and leaving the register on the sidewalk.
