Driver Mugged at Gunpoint
A 22-year-old male driver from Staten Island told police that at 1:30 a.m. on Monday, May 16, he was at Twelfth Ave. and West 24th St. when another car occupied by two men and a woman pulled in front of him. The two men exited their vehicle and approached the 22-year-old’s car carrying a small black 9 mm firearm. One of the men opened the victim’s car door and reached over to take his property. The second suspect demanded money or said he would shoot the victim in the leg. He also asked the victim to open the trunk. The items stolen included an iPhone 13, Cartier jewelry, Carhartt clothing, a wallet and credit card, totaling $2,410.
Robbery Suspect Threatens Drug Store Employee
A 54-year-old male employee at the Duane Reade store at 455 West 37th St. at Tenth Ave. said that at 7:30 a.m. on Monday, May 16, three men – two of them around 30 years old – entered the location and began taking items of merchandise off shelves. The employee approached one of the suspects, who said, “Get back. I have a knife!” The suspects then fled northbound on Tenth Ave. without paying. Police searched the neighborhood but couldn’t find the suspects. The merchandise stolen included paper goods, wine, shaving items, socks, underwear and baked goods totaling $400.
Gristedes Manager Set Upon by Robbery Suspect
A 35-year-old female manager of the Gristedes store at 307 West 26th St. near Eighth Ave. said that at 7:45 a.m. on Saturday, May 14, a 50-year-old man entered the location and began removing merchandise from shelves. As the suspect tried to leave the store without paying, the manager confronted him, and the man replied, “You can’t touch me!” before punching her in the face with a closed fist and throwing her to the ground. The suspect fled westbound on West 26th St., and the employee complained of pain to the right side of her face and left hip but refused medical attention. The items stolen included ten bottles of Gain liquid detergent totaling $13.
15-Year-Old Girl Attacked by Female Student
According to police, at 12:10 p.m. on Thursday, May 12, a 15-year-old girl was heading back to school from lunch when three female students approached her and her friends in front of 163 Eighth Ave. between West 18th St. and West 19th St. One of the three started assaulting her friend. The 15-year-old intervened, and one suspect punched her in the back of her head with a closed fist before dragging her down to the ground. The victim suffered a scratch to her right leg and complained of pain and redness.
Two Men Send Another to Hospital in Violent Assault
A 24-year-old male witness from Kings Point, NY reported to police that at 1:15 a.m. on Sunday, May 15, he saw a 48-year-old man being stomped on at the northwest corner of Ninth Ave. and West 39th St. by two men. The victim suffered a laceration to his forehead and was taken to NYC Health + Hospitals/Bellevue for treatment. The victim told police that he had been walking on the street before the incident.
