Man Collared in Leather Bar Dustup
A 50-year-old man from Stateline, NV reported that at 2:10 a.m. on Sunday, November 7, a 35-year-old male stranger struck him on the head with a glass bottle, causing physical injury including swelling and bleeding, in front of The Eagle leather bar at 554 West 28th St. at Eleventh Ave. The victim said he had been partying in the establishment before the incident. Anthony Guerra was arrested and charged with assault.
Arrest in Assault on Alabaman
A 28-year-old man from Birmingham, AL told police that at 4:20 a.m. on Sunday, November 7, a 28-year-old male stranger struck him in the face with closed fists and kicks at the northeast corner of Eighth Ave. and West 27th St., causing substantial pain and redness, swelling and minor bleeding. John Mahoni was arrested and charged with assault.
Two Attacks Two Days Apart on One Woman
According to police, a woman was attacked two times within two days by the same suspect. In the first incident, which occurred at 9:40 p.m. on Wednesday, November 3, a 51-year-old woman said she got in between a couple having a verbal dispute inside 245 West 25th St. near Eighth Ave. The victim got hit in her left eye with a cellphone, causing swelling and bruising, and was pushed to the ground, causing redness, bruising and substantial pain. Then at 11:30 p.m. on Friday, November 5, the same victim said she was walking home when the same assailant, a woman, sprayed capsaicin into her face in front of 425 West 25th St. between Ninth Ave. and Tenth Ave., causing a burning sensation, pain and temporary blindness.
Random Street Assault
A 28-year-old woman said that at 1:52 p.m. on Saturday, November 6, she was walking home when she was approached at the southeast corner of Eighth Ave. and West 15th St. by an unknown man who said, “The police are after me!” and then struck her with an elbow to the left side of her head before he took off southbound on Eighth. Apparently, the attack was unprovoked; there been no prior interaction between the victim and suspect. The victim was treated by an EMS team at the Sixth Precinct station house.
Police Seek Armed Muggers
Police reported that at 4:08 a.m. on Saturday, November 6, a 28-year-old man from Queens had left the TAO Downtown Nightclub and was walking to his vehicle on West 17th St., when opposite 313 West 17th near Eighth Ave. two unknown 20-year-old men approached him. Both suspects displayed handguns, and one snatched the victim’s watch from his left arm and a wallet from his jacket before the pair fled in a white BMW with license plates 083446T. Police searched the neighborhood but couldn’t find the suspects. Fortunately, the victim suffered no injuries and refused medical attention. The stolen property included a black Hublot Big Bang watch valued at $20,000, along with $500 in cash and a black Louis Vuitton wallet worth $495, making a total stolen of $20,995.
