Kellner found guilty of sexual harassment by ethics committee

The Assembly ethics Committee, according to a letter sent by Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver, has determined that Upper East Side Assembly Member Micah Kellner "created a hostile environment, violated the Assembly's sexual harassment policy" and "such conduct is unbecoming of a member of the Assembly and reflects poorly on the entire body."

The ethics investigation was started after allegations of sexual harassment against Kellner were uncovered by the New York Times over the summer.

Kellner has been removed as Chair of the Libraries Committee, and both the Ethics Committee and Speaker Silver have stated that the Assembly Member will have no interns placed in his offices, and an independent investigator will conduct semi-annual reviews of the climate of his workplace. In addition, Kellner will be required to attend seminars on sexual harassment.

Kellner may be facing more challenges, as Gus Christensen, a business executive, has announced that he is considering running for Kellner's Assembly seat. According to Politicker, he slammed Kellner in a statement, saying, "The people of the East Side and Roosevelt Island simply deserve better representation than Micah Kellner."

Kellner's spokesman did not respond in time for publication.
