AARP volunteers, who are certified by the IRS, prepare all returns. There is no cost to you for preparation and no cost to you for electronic filing (e-file). Certain returns with voluminous data or less common types of income, credits or deductions are beyond the scope of the AARP program. Some materials you should bring with you are:
Last year's Federal and State income tax return.
Social Security Cards for you, your spouse & dependents.
Tax information statements summarizing your 2013 income: Forms W-2, Forms 1099 for: Social Security payments, interest, retirement benefits, and annual tax statements from brokers, etc.
Details including any support for deductions and credits: medical, childcare, education, etc.
